Williamsburg Iowa Taekwon-Do

We offer instruction in self-defense, patters and sparring. We teach courtesy and respect for elders and peers within a fun, structured environment. Through knowledge and technique our students are taught to respect themselves as well. Boosting their self-esteem and confidence.

Taekwon-Do is more than just punching, kicking and breaking boards. Established in 1986 our school emphasizes the tenants of Taekwon-Do; Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit. We help build good citizens while teaching the five parts of Taekwon-Do; Fundamental Techniques, Self-Defense, Dallyon (stretching, exercising), Sparring and Patterns.

Williamsburg Iowa Taekwon-Do is affiliated with the United States Taekwon-Do Federation (USTF) and the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF). We teach General Choi Hong Hi's Taekwon-Do. The founding father of Taekwon-Do, General Choi, believed in promoting peace through strength and taught his students to be champions of freedom and justice. The USTF, founded in 1974, led by Grand Master Charles E. Sereff is the American representing body of the ITF.

New students wear a white belt signifying innocence and no prior knowledge of Taekwon-do. As students progress in their training they gain confidence and improve their physical condition with better balance, more strength, increased muscle tone and flexibility. Students are promoted in rank when they can demonstrate more advanced skills and knowledge. Our belt colors (gups) are white, yellow, green, blue and red. Black belts (dans) are awarded to those who pass advanced written and physical tests and have met the required number of years of study.

Gup (lower rank) testing is held here at our club. We bring in the testing panel from other schools in Iowa and Missouri. Dan testing is held twice a year in Missouri.
