Region 6 Boot Camp

"A Weekend With Region 6", our very own BOOT CAMP, has been scheduled for 2003. As soon as Mr. Cope, Region 6 Director, gives me the word I will update this page to include the date and schedule of classes and events. What and exciting time of camaraderie this weekend is. We get to meet new friends and workout with 6th Dans, Masters and past World Champions in the art of Taekwon-Do. Region 6 hosts the camp at the Mexico Missouri Military Academy. It is a wonderful facility. It is modern and has many on-site facilities like; large gyms, large swimming pool, weight room, wrestling room, tennis, staffed cafeteria and more. Many classes are held outside on the beautifully manicured grounds.

My students enjoy the camp as much as I do. Last year TEN of us drove down from Iowa. The trip took almost five hours but it was well worth it. Here are two testomonials:

"This past summer my sisters and I went to the second annual Region 6 Taekwon-Do "boot camp". This was my second year attending this camp and the beginning of my third year in Tae Kwon Do. This camp is a challenging learning experience where we get corrected and refined in our technique and conditioning by 5th degree black belts and above. The classes included pattern, breaking, Ho Sin Sul (which includes self-defense and falling), fighting and conditioning. We usually arrive Friday evening, wake-up at 6:15 on Saturday and have 5-6 classes and then on Sunday 1-2 classes. There is an extra fee for the referee course but it's worth it to become a referee. I'm thinking I'll take it this year. I think this camp is a valuable asset to anyone who takes Tae Kwon Do seriously."

"In kicking classes at Boot Camp we did a lot of review to perfect our lower belt kicks with combinations, until our legs felt like jelly. In fighting and ho-sin-sul I, along with the other green and blue belts, learned new techniques and ways to defend ourselves. Conditioning class was new in 2002. We did lots of push-ups and learned how to use a few of the weight machines. One of the other classes we had was breaking where we learned new kicking and breaking techniques. An unexpected class came for all those who were not involved with the ho sin sul certification course. We learned how to judge pattern and referee sparring matches. Anyone who attends A Weekend With Region 6 Boot Camp will enjoy it and come home wiser in the ways of Taekwon-Do."
